The Carmel Valley Home Market
Carmel Valley was developed in the early 1980s under the close watch of San Diego residents who wanted to preserve this beautiful natural area. The community came to include large stretches of parks and open space without intruding on Torrey Pines State Reserve just east of the I5. As a suburb of San Diego, Carmel Valley originally went by the institutional name "North City West," and was renamed in the early 1990s after the Carmelite Sisters of Mercy, who founded a dairy farm and monastery in the area at about 1905.
Carmel Valley real estate includes some of the most expensive homes in the San Diego metro area, with many listings priced well above $10 million.
