The Downtown San Diego Real Estate Market
Downtown San Diego is divided into eight neighborhoods, each offering different housing options. The Columbia neighborhood is located near the waterfront and boardwalk, offering residents a variety of dining and entertainment choices. At Columbia, over 2,000 housing units are for sale, either condominiums, townhouses, or apartment rentals. The Core community includes most of the government and city buildings like City Hall and the Civic Theatre. It features mainly loft-style units. Cortez Hill is the oldest of the neighborhoods and offers beautiful views waterfront views and upscale shops, while featuring spacious condominiums.
East Village has become the largest neighborhood since the city built PETCO Park in 2004, the home of the San Diego Padres. The area offers a mixture of spacious condominiums and oversized lofts. Little Italy is full of authentic cafes and specialty shops, located just blocks from condominiums. Both Horton Plaza and Gaslamp Quarter have limited housing as they feature more restaurants, shops, and theatres, but interested buyers may find a few lofts and apartments.
Things To Do in Downtown San Diego
Downtown San Diego offers a variety of fun activities for residents and families. The 1,400-acre Balboa Park features over 80 cultural institutions, 15 art and history museums, four theatres, and the infamous San Diego Zoo, in addition to outdoor gardens and play areas. San Diego is also home to the San Diego Padres, and PETCO Park, where fans can watch the game in the park or at at the playground, a place where fans can eat a picnic on a grassy meadow and watch the game from behind the outfield.
